Hui Lim
Violin Instructor
Originally from Singapore, Hui performed as a tenured violinist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and has served as the tenured Associate Principal 2nd Violin of Boise Philharmonic. She has also performed regularly with the Phoenix Symphony and the Berkeley Symphony.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Hui has taught violin for more than 15 years and her students have won 1st and 2nd place at regional competitions. She has served as an adjudicator at violin competitions in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Boise. Hui was a teaching assistant to Eliot Chapo, former Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, and Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio, former 1st Assistant Principal 2nd Violin of the Cleveland Orchestra.
Back in school, Hui won the 2nd Prize at Singapore’s National Piano and Violin Competition (no 1st prize awarded), and was a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra and Singapore Youth Orchestra. She was awarded a full scholarship to represent Singapore at Kirishima International Music Festival (Japan) and Pan Pacific Music Festival. (Australia)
Hui enjoys banter with her two absolutely adorable cats, Snowbear and Almond, and traveling with her husband, Tiantian.
