Shannon Monroe began her love of instruments and bands in middle school and high school in Pinson, AL. She went on to further her education at Samford University where she received a Bachelors of Music Education in Instrumental Music. She began her public school teaching career as director of bands at West Blocton High School. She later taught bands at Midfield High School and Rutledge Middle School for 8 years. After that she taught marching, concert, and jazz bands at John Carroll High School. Then the pull of motherhood called her to leave the public school field and she began teaching her two daughters at home. She now teaches a homeschool band program as well as private music lessons for Agape Academy in Pinson and private lessons for the Conservatory at FBCT. She performs regularly with the Crestwood Community Band and the FBC Trussville Orchestra. She loves serving her community as well as her faith in church through her love of music.
