Steve Garrett

Orchestra Director

Steve was born and raised in a deeply musical Southern Baptist family and grew up immersed in the power of music. He is a graduate of Samford University with an MBA and has been a member of the FBCT orchestra since approximately 2008.

Steve has been fortunate to have his musical talents showcased in a variety of settings. He has performed with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra on guitar at numerous events, including the Gaithers, the Lawrence Welk Show favorites Bob Ralston, Norma Zimmer at the Sacred Music Festival, "Porgy and Bess", and renowned artists including George Beverly Shea, Neal Sedaka, Arthur Fiedler, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Rita Moreno, Diahann Carroll, and Marvin Hamlisch.

His performance experience includes contributions to the Cerebral Palsy Telethon, the Miss Alabama Pageant, and spectacular shows including Holiday on Ice, the Shrine Circus, and the Ringling Brothers Circus, as well as events at the BJCC including Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Fifth Dimension. He played guitar for Red Skelton, Victor Lombardo, Bobby Vinton, Bob and Dolores Hope, The Brady Bunch, The Vogues, Don Rickles, Regis Philbin, George Lindsay, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Roy Clark, Barbara Mandrell, Lulu Roman, Anne Murray, Johnny Paycheck, Jim Nabors, The Diamonds, and Debbie Boone.

In Broadway productions, Steve has had the privilege of contributing his musical talents to numerous Broadway productions at the BJCC, including "The Lion King" and "Beautiful", performing on guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, and kalimba.
