Art

Oil Painting Classes

Oil painting classes are taught by William Hallmark. They are held in the Art room in the Music Suite located on the basement level. Art lessons are currently offered on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30pm. Please register today to secure your spot since space is limited! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. New students are welcomed and highly encouraged!

For first-time students, a suggested beginning age for art classes is 9-11 years old. Adult students are welcomed and encouraged to participate as well! There is a $25 art supplies fee per semester.

Adult Art Class

Sign up for our new Adult Art Class. This is a 12 week session of 2 hour Art classes from May 9 - August 1. The cost for the class is $360 plus a $50 art fee. These classes are taught by local artist Jim Tidwell. The classes are for ages 16 and up and take place Thursdays, 6:00 - 8:00pm in the Music Suite. We will do acrylic painting, watercolor painting, and pencil and charcoal drawing. The art fee covers initial start up kit of one set of acrylic bushes, one set of acrylic paint and set of watercolor paint, canvases, watercolor pad, watercolor pencils, one drawing kit and thick sketch book, and pencil/charcoal set, and more! Drums

Introducing our new Drum Group – CHOP-SHOP!

Mondays from 5:30 – 6:30PM

Our new Drum Group, “Chop-Shop” will be taught by our drum instructor, Lazarus Mosby. This one-hour class will begin on Monday, January 8. This is for current drummers and any other non-drum student who would like the opportunity to learn and perform in ensemble.

ALL parents are invited to learn and participate for FREE! ADULTS without students in the group are also welcome to come as well at the regular price. The NEW price is $320 for the 16 weeks.

Mr. Lazarus has lots of experience with this and students & adults alike will enjoy the camaraderie and motivation that comes with playing in a group. Learn to praise God with rhythm! In the new “Chop-Shop” Drum group, students will learn drumming techniques, rhythm reading skills, playing in ensemble and most importantly – have so much fun playing in a group! Mr. Mosby is a very skilled teacher and performer, and students will learn so much from him!

This one-hour class will meet weekly in the Music Suite.


Drum lessons are currently offered on Tuesdays, from 1:00 - 6:00pm. They are held in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room, which is located just behind the main Sanctuary and Room 311 on the 3rd floor.

Class Descriptions

Beginner, Moderate, and Advanced Drumset

Student lessons will vary greatly depending on their level of proficiency, practice, and experience. They will cover subjects such as:

  • Proper technique of playing the drums
  • Playing different styles music: Rock, Country, Gospel, Pop, Jazz, Fusion, Hip-hop, Funk, Blues, Swing, Reggae...
  • Playing in different meters: 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/8, 12/8, 5/4...
  • Using a metronome
  • Understanding rhythm theory and notation
  • Developing effective practice techniques

Beginner Snare Drum

Student lessons will vary greatly depending on their level of proficiency, practice, and experience. They will cover subjects such as:

  • Technique and rudiments for snare drum
  • Reading sheet music
  • Drills and fundamentals
  • Practice techniques

Guitar

Acoustic and Electric Guitar Lessons are taught by Ray Shackelford. Lessons are currently offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Room 306 on the 3rd floor.

For first-time students, a suggested beginning age for guitar lessons is 6-7 years old.

Lil' Piano Pals

Does your 4K or 5K child love music? Would you like him/her to have fun, engaging musical experiences, while introducing your early learner to music fundamentals and beginner piano basics? Welcome to “Lil’ Piano Pals” Preschool Piano, a fantastic first musical adventure for your young child!

Classes are 30 minutes each and size is limited to up to 4 children. The instructor will let you know how to purchase the materials needed. Home practice can be done on a piano or keyboard. The instructor for the classes will be Mrs. Barbara Joseph, state certified music teacher and private piano/voice instructor, or Ms. Tessa Brown, private piano/voice teacher.

Group lessons are $288 for the 16 week Fall session and the 16-week Spring session.

Piano

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced piano lessons are taught by our piano instructors Jill Cagle, Dave Covington, Luda Hoskin, Barbara Joseph, Rhonda Kaletski, Elena Osadchaya-Endo, and Tessa Brown. These lessons are for ages 5 and up, and are held on the 3rd floor of Building C.

Violin, Viola, and Cello and Strings Ensemble

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced violin lessons are taught by Esther Roestan, and Hannah Nguyen. Strings Ensemble is taught by Belinda Bunt. Cello lessons are taught by Christine Traywick. Violin lessons are currently offered Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 – 6:00 PM. Space is limited. The suggested starting age for these lessons is 5 years old. Violin lessons are held on the 3rd floor of Building C, in Room 305. Cello lessons are held in Room 312 and Strings Ensemble is on select Saturday mornings in the Music Suite.

Violin Ensemble

This will meet on 6 Saturdays for current violin students to play ensemble music and perform as well as learn music history and have fun with other violinists! Tuition is $100.

Voice

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced Private and group voice lessons are taught by Barbara Joseph, Christine Traywick, and Tessa Brown. Private lessons are recommended for about ages 10 and up. To maximize the effectiveness in vocal development and ear training of young singers, Group Lessons are preferred for students ages 6-11. If you would like your younger child evaluated for private lessons, email the voice teacher. All voice lessons are held on the 3rd floor of Building C.

Check our registration site for Voice Groups and age ranges for that group. Students learn to sing on pitch, use proper breathing technique and posture, learn simple ear training, do vocal exercises to improve diction and increase range and of course, learn fun songs to perform! Summer Camps

Fine Arts CampFine Arts Camp

Date: June 10 - June 13, 2024

This year's theme is "How Sweet It Is" and will focus on the sweetness of knowing Jesus! He is better than candy, His love and forgiveness sweet like honey! The camp provides children with a sampling of all the Conservatory offers: They will attend daily classes in Piano, Art, Drums, Guitar, Violin, Choir & Movement, and Musicianship. In addition, there is Recreation, Lunch and Chapel time.

Students need to wear comfortable clothing and bring a sack lunch each day. We also have fun themed Dress up Days! Students are in a small group with a teen Leader as they move about from class to class. All classes are taught by our highly qualified Conservatory teachers. On the last day of the camp, a closing program (6:00pm) is held that features the songs learned, a multimedia presentation of the week and an Open House to visit with teachers and classes! A camp shirt is included in the Camp price! Camp is held in the High School Space.

This camp is for kids who have completed 1st - 6th grade. The cost is $200.

Princess Dance CampPrincess Dance Camp

Dates: Week 1 - Jun 17-20; Week 2 - Jun 24-27

Princess Dance Camp is taught by our Conservatory Instructor, Tessa Brown. Beyond Voice and Piano, she has a long background in dance and is currently taking more Ballet now! Your little girl will have so much fun as she learns to dance and see her true identity as a daughter of the King! The girls will have a schedule of dance times, arts & crafts, centers, games, story time and snack. Come dressed in comfortable clothing or as your favorite princess! (No formal dance attire is required.) A daily snack and water are provided for your child. Camp will be held in the Children's Worship area.

NOTE: There are Two weeks of Princess Dance camp back to back! Same music/theme each week.

This camp is for girls ages 3 - 8 and the cost $130.

Kids Art CampKids Art Camp

This is a brand new camp just for Art lovers! Taught by local TCS art teacher Angela Santiago. Come discover God's beautiful world and the vibrant art of Van Gogh as we delve into art projects with painting, printmaking, clay sculpting and more! All art materials are included in the cost! We are offering two weeks of this camp! You can choose June 17 - 20 or June 24 - 27.

This camp is for kids who have completed 1st - 6th grade. The cost is $200.
